Intense purple red color.

The nose has intense aromas of fresh fruit from ripe stem, with a slight tendency to jam. Berries, such as blackberries, and red-petaled flowers are also added. For spices we note cinnamon and especially vanilla. Cigar tobacco is a light idea of ​​ash, which remained in the fireplace in the morning after the hearth. The balsamic perceived around the eucalyptus plants increase the complexity. The balance between the intensity of the perfumes and their finesse is truly remarkable.

On the palate it is conspicuous and at the same time agile. Although full-bodied it is not heavy, and by virtue of its marked acidity, on the contrary it is really easy to drink. Remarkable as announced the profile of softness, but overall in perfect balance. After swallowing it, aromas of spices and ripe fruit go back to the nose.

Barbera d’Asti Superiore 2016 Alessandro Motta

Produced from a single vineyard in the municipality of Castel Rocchero in the province of Asti. The vineyards were planted in 1969 and are consequently almost 50 years old. The orientation of the vineyard is southeast.

Altitude is around 350 meters above sea level, and the soil is loamy and clayey, with sandy veins. The training system is a counter espalier with guyot pruning.

The harvest is done manually, and the grapes are harvested in boxes of 20 kg each. After destemming and soft pressing, alcoholic fermentation begins, conducted in stainless steel fermenters, at controlled temperature, for a period of 10-15 days. Frequent punching down and pumping over are carried out daily.

Still in stainless steel it carries out the malo-lactic transformation. and then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Follows the bottling and a further rest in glass for another 8 – 10 months.
