Barolo Prapò 2013 Ettore Germano
Variety: Nebbiolo 100%
The grapes are harvested in a single vineyard, called Prapò in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. The surface is one hectare, while the orientation is southeast and the altitude varies from 350 to 370 m.s.l.m.
Soil: it is clayey with a large presence of limestone. The first year of planting is 1967, therefore the oldest plants are over 50 years old.
Plant density and yield: there are 3,800 vines per hectare, while the average yield, depending on the vintage, is 50 quintals per hectare, for a production of about 5,000 bottles.
At Ettore Germano the harvest is done manually and begins in the second ten days of October.
Alcoholic fermentation, with maceration, lasts about 30 days.
At the end it carries out the malo-lactic transformation and then the refinement begins. It extends for 24 months in 20 hectolitre oak barrels, and then 18 months in bottle.

Garnet red with subtle orange shadows.
The nose has head aromas of ripe fresh fruit and spices. By swirling the glass, the raspberry, red currant and blueberry arrive, among the small ones from the woods. Follow the flowers with the red rose and violet. Among the spices, vanilla and cinnamon, while among the toasted, blond tobacco. The forest is also represented with leaves, moss and humus.
On the palate it is intriguing and enveloping. Of absolute thickness, dance in perfect balance between form and substance. It has all the hardnesses in evidence, but if we want to mention only one, the tannins appear. Among the softnesses, the glycerins give pleasant volume to the sip. After swallowing, aromas of plum and spice again reach the olfactory epithelium. Overall it is a great Barolo, one of those that are not easily forgotten. Indeed those who remember with emotion.
