The vineyard is structured in a semicircle-shaped valley, facing south-east.

Vines have an average age of 45 years, a planting density of 10,000 plants per hectare, and a yield of 30 hectoliters per hectare.

The harvest is carried out manually, while fermentation is carried out without adding sulfur dioxide, having an average duration of about four weeks.

It refines for a minimum of 17 months on fine lees and with continuous remuage in Burgundy barriques.

Echezeaux Grand cru 2014 Magnum Philippe Pacalet

Red ruby red.

On the nose it has simply exceptional. Almost not to serve to define the details. It is the whole that expresses its absolute value. Of course there are the typical and classic red fruits with currants and cramberry, then the flowers with the rose, but also traits of sandalwood and fine pipe tobacco. The classic scent of the hen house further enhances it.

On the palate it is immense, as any Grand Cru of Burgundy knows how to be, and as in particular this is certain to be. The terroir gives it a very particular minerality, so as to trace its memory forever. The aromas that reach the nose from the palate are of flowers, fruit and spices.

Overall it is an excellent and exciting wine, which will improve for many years in the future.

Philippe Pacalet did a completely different job until 1999 when he decided to rent small vineyard plots and start producing wines under his own name.

Within a very few years they jumped to the headlines, for the excellent quality, distinguished by a supreme elegance.
