Description

Barbera d’Alba Fontanin 2018 Livia Fontana

Variety: Barbera 100%

Livia Fontana‘s company has existed since 1850, but now it is admirably conducted by her and her two children. Lorenzo helps him in commercial terms, while Michele is the author, who rules the field and the cellar.

Grapes are grown in Castiglione Falletto at an altitude ranging from 300 up to 350 meters above sea level.

The cultivated area covers 4 hectares.

The harvest is done manually. with a first selection of the grapes in the vineyard, and with the aid of cassettes. Normally it happens between the last week of September and the first of October.

In the cellar a second and even more accurate selection of the grapes takes place. Soft pressing is started and alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless steel containers. During this phase they carry out several replacements and delstage.

Aged in stainless steel containers for at least 6 months.

Barbera d’Alba Fontanin 2018 Livia Fontana

Purple red color.

The nose stretches between intense aromas of fresh fruit, berries and beautiful notes of rose petals.

On the palate it is impressive for the wonderful balance between hardness expressed by acidity and minerality and softness by volume and creaminess. And if among these tactile sensations we had to say which is more evident, we should reward minerality, which adds value and drinkability to the glass. From the palate aromas of wild strawberry arrive, and fascinating herbaceous sensations.

Overall it is an excellent Barbera, perfectly representative of the variety and territory it belongs to.

Incredibly satisfying, and even more so for the really interesting price.
