Variety: Nebbiolo 100%

Produced with grapes harvested in the Margheria vineyard (sheet 7, parcels n.181-182-183-184) in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. The altitude is 340 meters s.l.m. The soil is clayey, calcareous with a good percentage of sand.

Breeding is against espalier with Guyot pruning. The sixth plant provides about 5,300 plants per hectare. Average age of the vineyard is 35 years.

Yield per hectare is 45 quintals of grapes. Harvest is manual, and is carried out in the second half of October.

De-stemming and fermentation with maceration on the skins for a period ranging from 15 to 20 days, and the temperature is maintained at 31-33 ° C

Once the malo-lactic transformation is over, it is decanted into large oak barrels, where it remains for about 30 months. Bottled, remains in glass in the cellars, to refine for at least another year.

Barolo Margheria 2014 Massolino

Red garnet with shadows tending to orange.

The nose has intense and impressive aromas of red fruit from the stem, in particular the red plum. Followed by spicy sensations of pepper and cinnamon, leather, toasted tobacco and the scents of humus undergrowth. Also some notes of aromatic herbs and roots are added to enrich.

On the palate it is impressive in its elegance. Excellent hardness, with obvious young tannin to excel, although the minerality, fine and perceptible, is not far behind. For the substance has excellent feelings of sweetness brought by the alcohol, but above all fabulous plot of glycerine. It has a great prospect of aging. From the mouth emerge aromas of Taggiasca olives in brine and chestnuts. Very persistent.
