Intense purple red color.

The nose has intense aromas of fresh fruit from ripe stems, with a slight tendency to jam. Berries, such as blackberry, and red-petaled flowers are also added. For spices we note cinnamon and especially vanilla. Cigar tobacco and a slight idea of ​​ash, left in the fireplace in the morning after the hearth. The balsamic perceived around eucalyptus plants increases the complexity. The balance between the intensity of the aromas and their finesse is truly remarkable.

On the palate it is conspicuous and at the same time agile. Despite being full-bodied it is not heavy, and by virtue of the marked acidity, on the contrary it is really easy to drink. The softness profile is remarkable, but overall in perfect balance. After having swallowed it, aromas of spices and ripe fruit emerge on the nose.

Very persistent.

Great variation of Barbera, from the super Cru Nizza, which since the 2014 harvest can boast its own denomination, capable of surprising and satisfying.

Nizza 2017 Castello di Perno

Castello di Perno has the good fortune to cultivate its Nizza in a single vineyard planted in 1940, in the highly prized Bricco di Nizza sub-area, in the municipality of Nizza Monferrato.

The orientation of the vineyard is south – south east.

The training system is counter-espalier with guyot pruning.

Harvest carried out manually, with the use of small boxes. After destemming, it macerates cold for 48 hours, and when the temperature is raised, it ferments spontaneously in stainless steel containers for about 20 days.

Also in stainless steel it carries out the malolactic transformation. and then refines for 20 months in oak barrels. Following bottling, it rests for another six months in the cellar.
