Primitivo di Manduria Talò 2017 Cantine San Marzano

Variety: Primitivo (Zinfandel) 100%

Deep ruby ​​red color, with purplish shadows in the area of ​​lesser thickness.

The nose has aromas of ripe fruit, with cherry and black cherry, and berries, with blackberry and blueberry. There is no shortage of spices, with pepper and vanilla to highlight the rest. Sprays of cigar tobacco and coffee conclude the olfactory spectrum.

On the palate it is conspicuous with structure and considerable substance. Slightly unbalanced on softness, it appears as a whole as velvety and round. Persistent. From the mouth, aromas of cocoa and wild berries reach the nose.

Accompanies grilled or baked sheep meat with potatoes and rosemary. Interesting with spicy sauteed vegetables.

The San Marzano winery produces intense Apulian red wines, adhering to the variety and territory of belonging.

The grapes are grown in different vineyards, all in the municipality of San Marzano di San Giuseppe in the province of Taranto.

Average altitude: it is 100 meters above sea level.

The soil is medium-textured clay with a good presence of skeleton.

The planting layout includes 5,000 plants per hectare, while the training system is espalier with guyot pruning.

After the harvest, which takes place in the first half of September, alcoholic fermentation begins at a controlled temperature in stainless steel containers and with the use of selected yeasts. Normally this phase ends in ten days.

It is aged for six months in barriques, part of French oak and part coming from the American forests.
