Description

Roero Rosso 2018 Matteo Correggia

Variety: Nebbiolo 100%

Certified organic

Pale ruby red.

The nose has aromas of fresh fruit, with cherry and plum, then of flowers with violet. There follow the notes of earth, wood, and that set of scents that characterize the undergrowth. Some vegetal features just mentioned increase the complexity and the pleasantness of the whole.

On the palate it stands out for the good balance between hardness and softness. In addition to the obvious tannin, we have a remarkable minerality extracted from the sandy soils typical of the other part of the Tanaro. The whole is always pleasant, having as pride the drinkability.

Roero is a very versatile red wine that easily accompanies many dishes from both traditional cuisine, as well as modern and experimental ones. Matteo Correggia offers us an excellent example of Nebbiolo from sandy soils. Daily wine, which satisfies without costing excessively.

The grapes come from different vineyards. The ground is sandy with fine sand. Exposure varies from vineyard to vineyard and the altitude ranges from 280 to 330 meters above sea level.

The training system is counter-espalier with Guyot pruning. The planting density is 4800 plants per hectare, and the yield per hectare is 56 hectoliters.

After the harvest, carried out manually, the grapes are rasped as soon as they arrive in the cellar and after the addition of the selected yeasts, fermentation begins with maceration. The same extends over a period of six to eight days in stainless steel.

After having carried out the malolactic transformation, it ages for at least 6 months in wooden barrels of different sizes.
