Description

Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Kolbenhof 2016 Hofstatter

Variety: Gewürztraminer 100%

Grapes that go to make the Gewürztraminer Kolbenhof, are a selection of the best grapes, harvested from older plants. The Kolbenhof vineyard, named after the village where it is located, in the municipality of Termeno and for the quality of its Terroir, can, quite rightly, be considered a Grand Cru.

Soil is clay and gravelly of calcareous nature.

Harvest takes place manually, after which the grapes are pressed and the must is left for several hours, at a controlled temperature, in contact with the skin to enhance its varietal characteristics.

The following fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel containers.

Aged for eight months on fine lees, with weekly Battonage.

Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Kolbenhof 2016 Hofstatter

Intense straw yellow color with large golden spots.

The nose has intense and fascinating aromas of exotic fruit, beautiful and ripe. The lychee first of all, followed by the mango and the local yellow peach. Take the pink petals out of the flowers, fabulous in their light hovering around the fleshy fruit. Even the spices are added and enlarged, and consequently, enhance the olfactory prospect. For a good reason it is considered one of the best Italian Gewürztraminer.

The palate is rich and fat. Great consistency of the volume expressed by the sip, but also a good acidity and minerality to compensate and to give the necessary structure. After a year of aging in the bottle it is perfect to be drunk.

It wonderfully accompanies different dishes of oriental nature, in particular those of India and Thailand, where spices are a potent element of the dish. With sautéed foie gras, and aged and intense blue cheeses.
