Description

Alto Adige Val Venosta Riesling 2019 Falkenstein

Variety: Riesling Renano 100%

Straw yellow with clear green reflections.

The nose has very fine head aromas, and with a great perspective. Citrus fruits declined in cedar and lime, with white peach, apple and apricot. Floral notes of magnolia and orange blossom make the whole even more fascinating. Undoubtedly a very successful vintage, with truly remarkable class facets.

On the palate, it shows all its verticality, with freshness as a faithful ally. The volume is adequate for a balanced and deep sip. Very persistent with aromas of white currant and citrus.

Like any self-respecting Riesling Renano, it has the ability to be enjoyable in a different way, as it ages. When it is young it surprises for its vivacity and freshness, when it refines a few years, it turns to hydrocarbons and complexity of a completely different invoice.

Among the Italian Rieslings, Falkenstein’s is always one of the best

Alto Adige Val Venosta Riesling 2019 Falkenstein

Riesling is grown in the highest areas of the vineyard.

The harvest takes place strictly by hand between early and mid-October.

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in large acacia wood barrels. There follows an aging of ten months on coarse lees, always in the same barrels. Bottled, it remains for another 12 months in the bottle, and only since then has it arrived on the market.

The renowned Falkenstein farm, in Italian the Rocca del Falco, owned by the Pratzner family for 400 years, is located above Naturno, in Val Venosta, close to Mount Sonnenberg, in Italian Monte del Sole. In 1989 the current owner Franz Pratzner and his wife Bernadette decide to abandon the cultivation of apples and focus on wine production. Another step in the evolution takes place in 1995, when they choose to market their wines with their own label.

The vineyard is located in a particularly suitable area, located on the steep slopes facing south, at an altitude ranging from 590 to 900 m asl. The sun hits the bunches for most of the day, generating warm days and cool nights, so to have an excellent thermal excursion. A detail that allows you to naturally develop the aromas and aromas of the white grape varieties they grow: Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer and above all the Riesling Renano, which is rightly considered one of the best in southern Germany.

Absolutely not to forget the excellent Pinot Noir, year after year more and more precise and characteristic. For several years he too has been one of the best in the whole region and all of Italy.
