Hautes Cotes de Nuits Chardonnay Vielle Vigne 2018 Domaine Cruchandeau

Variety: 100% Chardonnay

Reasoned agriculture, that is, without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

The grapes come from a vineyard over 50 years old, next to Nuits-St-Georges, with an altitude of 380 meters above sea level, while the sun exposure is South South – West.

The soil is mainly composed of white marl and clay. White marl is a compact stratification of clay, calcium carbonate and marine fossils, where the majority percentage is limestone.

After the harvest, carried out manually in 20 kg boxes drilled with selection of the bunches, cold maceration for 24 hours. After pressing, alcoholic fermentation follows, for half of the mass in cask and the rest in vats.

Half of the mass ages in oak barrels and the rest in stainless steel tanks, for a period of 10 months.

Intense straw yellow color.

The nose has the class of Burgundy Chardonnays, with prosthetic and clean aromas of fabulous fresh fruit. The banana and the Renetta apple, then the camellia flowers, with that lemon tendency, and the white gerbera. We also have panna cotta, vanilla, pine resin and toasted hazelnuts.

On the palate it is mildly creamy, yet granite in rigor. The freshness of acidity and minerality, the essence, leave no room for the boredom of heavy and clumsy wines. Only virtuous wines manage to be graceful and severe, and he is from beginning to end. Aromas of citrus peel and toasted bread come from the palate.

On the whole of the three aspects Julien Cruchandeau designs an excellent Chardonnay, with the advantage of not only being good, but also to excite. Fully attributable to the grape variety and especially to the region of origin. Tasted blind it does not leave you uncertain: it is Burgundy!
