Description

Marlborough Pinot Noir 2017 Greywacke

Variety:Pinot Noir 100%

Stelvin cap

Pale ruby red color.

The nose is intense and very fine, with brilliant aromas of red currant, black cherry in alcohol, but also of earth, tobacco, juniper and cloves. Exuberant and refined at the same time, it is no longer surprising, but on the contrary it has become a pleasant constant.

On the palate it is well structured, with the remarkable ability to develop hardness, maintaining balance and ductility. The unique climate grants harmony between the parts, managing to bring the fruit to ripeness while maintaining the acidity. The persistence is also excellent, with aromas of sweet spices, star anise, flowers and fruit.

Excellent representation of Pinot Noir from the Southern Hemisphere.

Marlborough Pinot Noir 2017 Greywacke

Greywacke grows the grapes for its Pinot Noir in several valleys of the southern part of the Marlborough appellation, particularly in the vineyard called Yarrum, located between the crests of Brancott and Ben Morven.

The soils are mainly composed of various types of clay and gravel.

The clones used are mainly Dijon 115, 777 and 667, and in small plots UCD5 and AM 10/5.

After the harvest, carried out by hand, the grapes are refrigerated for a whole night. A small part of the bunches is left whole while the remainder is de-stemmed. The pied de cuve prepared previously with indigenous yeasts is added to the must and left to ferment in open vats.

It is then pressed and poured into 30% new barriques.

The single clones are vinified and aged separately, and after 16 months they are assembled and bottled.
